Using Technology in Sport

When people talk about Technology in Sport, their mind immediately jumps to systems like HawkEye at Wimbledon, or the introduction of goal line technology in Football. Not only have these systems assisted the umpires in the control of the game, but also add to the spectacle of the event that is match day. And yet the same people who discuss the wonderfulness that are these systems will still turn the TV off at the end of the game, pick up a pen and pencils and begin frantically scribbling drill and plan ideas on a piece of a paper.

And here lies the current issue. These advancements in technology are still perceived to have only reached the highest level of Sports, and as such the common athlete or coach doesn't believe they can have access to tools that would allow them to further their development.

By making session planning digital, coaches have the ability to instantly manage, store and share all their content with the click of a button. Adding this into the increasing popularity of web access on mobile devices, digital planning has been made even more inviting. Through the sharing of resources amongst peers, coaches will gain an insight into both successful plans as well as sessions which need to be adapted through a commentary system.

No longer is it necessary to take multiple pieces of paper out onto the field - simply take your phone from your pocket and search for what you need. Not only does this reduce the need to properly store and file all your physical plans, but you can find particular ideas even quicker.

The use of mobile applications removes the need for specialist camera equipment, with a mobile/tablet device subbing in. These applications will record live exercises and instantly upload the files to your storage area for instant analysis.

Through the integration of a multi-sport resource centre, personalised storage area with infinite data and a variety of bespoke coaching tools, it has never been easier to become a digital coach. And this is all available at your fingertips - with Sportplan.
